Something I’ve been trying out is just ✨pausing✨ more.
This last weekend, I made the intention to pause before doing anything!!
So often, we rush from thing to thing, errand to errand, meeting to meeting, task to task, etc. My personality type is also fiery and passionate, so if I’m working on something for my business, I get pumped up and excited!! If I just recorded a podcast, I want to keep going and edit the whole thing right now!!! (I think part of this comes from a scarcity mindset from years of depression, but that is another post.) I tend to gogogo, until I start to feel agitated and depleted.
We live busy lives. Many times, we can’t change that. But we can implement a pause!
Even if you have back to back Zoom meetings, take just 30 seconds to check in with your body, thoughts, emotions, energy before getting on to a call. You can be 30 seconds late to a meeting!
Before switching tasks at work, take a minute to stretch your arms, take a drink of water and do a mental body scan. This minute (or even 5?? 10??) doesn’t waste time! It can help you quickly refuel your mental state and energetic body, so that you can feel calm and focused as you move to the next task.
I even did this with my lounging time. Instead of watching episodes of my show I was watching straight through (which normally makes me feel like a zombie later), I watched 1 or 2 at a time, then paused it checked in. I asked myself what I wanted and needed.
I think about when I’ve finished work or cooking, and I don’t know how to rest. I will literally just pace around anxiously, re check emails, look into the oven to see how it’s going, etc.
Embracing this sacred pause is also embracing rest, even if it’s only for 30 seconds, 10 minutes, 1 hour.
Embracing this pause is to practice knowing yourself and loving yourself! ❤️
